Kuala Lumpur is the stunning capital of Malaysia, located in the Malaysian Penninsula within South East Asia and separated by the South China Sea. Famous for the Petronas twin towers (co-joined together by an astonishing sky bridge), the Bukit Bintang Shopping Mall, The Kuala Lumpur Tower, the National Monument along with the inspiring well designed parks, having the opportunity to visit this beautiful country was essential!
We were continuing our journey onwards through East Asia with our next destination in mind, Vietnam… but on the way we wanted to take the occasion to stay over in Kuala Lumpur, in one of the most beautiful hotels in Malaysia– The Banyan Tree hotel.
Arrival and Welcome
The location of the hotel was geographically perfect, it was well located in the busy city centre district with ease of access to all the major amenities and entertainment centres within Kuala Lumpur. We were given a wonderfully warm welcome by the Juan Karlos (the manager) and Michelle (reception staff) who made us feel very special and cared for as new visitors to the country. Michelle was very friendly, pleasant and attentive to our welcome.
After our wonderful greetings and initial introduction to the hotel team we were immediately put at ease and felt relaxed for our stay.
Soon after checking in we were taken up to the hotel suite and shown around the hotels stunning features. It is considered an “Urban Oasis” in Kuala Lumpur and was impressively decorated, chic design, and adorned in the best finery for a hotel providing impeccable service.
From the windows of the hotel there was an awesome view of the Petronas Towers (the tallest buildings in the world), The Kuala Lumpur Tower and an unobstructed panorama of the whole city. It was breathtaking.
The jaw dropping experience of entering the suite was also striking. Apart from the suite being utterly stunning, modern, and truly beautiful, with ceiling to floor windows, it was elegant, impressive, and luxurious in design. The suite was enormous but had been designed in such a way to make the large space feel comfortable and homely. Admiring the layout of the suite was calming and relaxing, and there were some delicate macaroons separated by a welcome card which we were happy to taste!
The hotel suite room featured elegant and modern design features. There were large comfortable beds adorned with fine linen and fine-looking artwork nested above the headboard which made it a pleasant place to sleep. The expansive room came with spacious wardrobes and drawers containing the mini bar, drink making facilities and snacks, so you had easy access to everything you needed – including a phone to request any extras you needed from room service.
The bathroom was very spacious and contained a separate area for bathing – translucent doors which opened out to show the alabaster oval bath. The oval bath was inviting and stylish and gave you the opportunity to soak and overlook the panorama of the city and into the horizon of Malaysia. The cone shaped sinks were a stylish touch helping to create a spa like feel to the bathroom, with white dressing gowns hanging up inside, and hidden away inside the cupboards some fashionable Kimonos one could wear to relax in after bathing.
The hotel included all of the important facilities that a luxury traveller would need for their stay. A great swimming pool overlooking the Petronas Towers, a well equipped large and modern gym, and an eye striking bar with fabulous bar staff that could make some of the tastiest cocktails! I made sure I sampled the French Kiss (Malibu) and Love Bite (vodka and pineapple) when I made my way there! The bar area faces outwards allowing the visitor to drink their cocktails whilst looking out over the entire city of Kuala Lumpur which is an experience in itself.
The breakfast area was very inviting with a great range and fabulous selection of food, again with the impressive and dramatic views of the city skyline. It was so peaceful high up sampling the wonderful selection of breakfast foods available. It was also pretty awesome watching the sunset in the evening from here too!

Best times to go
So when is the best time to visit this unique and exciting city with the stunning views, interesting culture, and amazing hotels? The best times which are suggested to visit Kuala Lumpur is between May to July or December to February (I wonder how amazing it would be to celebrate New Year in Kuala Lumpur…). March is the hottest month reaching an average of 28 degrees centigrade, and the coldest in January but still a comfortable 27 degrees centigrade so generally pretty even! The wettest month is in November with an average of 290 mm of rain. The cheapest time to visit tends to be in February to Mid-May.
Malaysia is definitely somewhere I will visit again. Interesting, exciting, and urban it’s a unique and modern part of South East Asia which is well worth a visit. The Banyan Tree hotel is a reason itself to visit this beautiful location.
